BeOS is Dead, but there is a successor, 100% binary compatible, but 80% rewritten code called "Zeta".

You can check that out @ http://www.yellowtab.com/
but the company developing that is said to be in financial trouble.

Anyway, Zeta is to BeOS what eCom Station is to OS/2 Warp... a product that is under active development by a small Company after aquiring the rights and source code of an Operation System that was neglected by its former maker, and provides bugfixes, new drivers, security updates, new features and so on and so forth.....

So if you want to try a fairly recent "BeOS"...there is a free LiveCD of Zeta 1.1 @
http://download.freenet.de/archiv_z/zeta_live-cd_7560.html
(most recent Version is 1.2) but AFAIK the CD is in German.

I had a feature request related to BeOS/Haiku on the rEFIt project (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1488532&group_id=161917&atid=821767), but the person apparently wasn't quite sure what he was trying to achieve in the first place and hasn't reported back yet.
