I have a new MacBook Pro and using Bootcamp and Apple drivers, booted in XP, when I go to adjust the brightness from its highest notch there is a huge step down in brightness to the next step. Anybody else having this same issue? Any ideas on how to fix it?
I need some level in between to make this thing usable, otherwise I'm going to have to offer someone a good deal to take it off my hands :-)

You can change the standard brightness levels in your ATI settings. Not sure if this will work as a solution for you, maybe you could wear shades while you use it.

I think he's talking about the backlight brightness. And he's right, the first notch down from max brightness is significantly darker. It's not like that in Mac OS X. I have found this annoying as well.

I know he meant the backlight, but you could imagine a situation where you just wanted your computer a little dimmer and didn't care about the very brightest setting. In that case you could just dim it a bit on the ATI settings. However, I doubted this would really solve the problem, since he probably wants the brightest setting to be easily available.
On my MBP, I don't notice it being a huge jump, but it is definely larger than in OS X.
