Hi all,
Have any of you found a solution to the partition table problem that many of us are experincing after trying to install XP?
My partition table looks like this:
C: Partition1 (EFI)[Fat32] 200mb
Unpartitioned space 47698mb
E: Partition2 [Unknown] 47370mb
Unpartitioned space 126mb
What can be wrong? If you got the solution/work around please post it here in detail.
Thanks!!!!

i had this same problem as you, so i tried installing XP to
E: Partition2 [Unknown] 47370mb
which didn't work (did partial XP install) but it fixed something....because I started the XP install over again and the partition scheme was right. It worked fine after that.

I went through the format, partition install thing like four times on release day because these forums, and osx86 forums were down, couldn't get help.
the solution is simple - boot from CD again (instead of hitting f2). second time through partition table will look correct and you can install as per the instructions.
XP is working great on my macbook, except for video drivers. Firewire, audio (without speakers), usb, lan, wlan, all work great. I'm using an m-audio fw410 interface (firewire) that seems to be working fine as well. And the macdrive demo lets me use my osx partition - I think I have to buy it now!
Only other problem is it seems after a boot back into os x the os x time is wrong - xp time stays correct through reboots.

Organik,
What do you mean by "instead of hitting f2"? From where do you reboot?
Thanks!

what do you mean look correct exactly? i keep having to repeat the step over and over again (watching xp professional setup, reboot my macbook, and then select my partition again over and over)

I am seeing major partition id & filesystem inconsistencies with a different partition layout (EFI, Mac OS X, Windows, Linux)... iMac 20" with a 250GB hard drive.
It appears that the mbrUpdate routine in xom.efi isn't handling this properly. I see MSDOS for the last two partitions on my disk, when I've even gone so far as to fdisk the partition myself and select 0x07 (NTFS) for the Windows partition.
Sure enough, xom.efi keeps showing MSDOS every time I reboot.
I originally detailed my issue in the iMac 20" - my post is here:
