as I was reading articles about problems with bootcamp and intelmacs I realized that many problem issues can be solved, easily. Some are of course more difficult. I went through almost all the posts here and find it very useful in many cases. So here is my story about video problems and possible solution. I have a MBP 17, 2.16Ghz, 2G ram. I use the supplied ati drivers for the x1600. (I tried omega before but I returned to the original driver) I also have a 23inch Cinema HD display attached to my beauty, which seems to be the possible cause of the video issues. Not the noisy screen described in an other thread. The noise only affects the built in screen not the external. It looks like the built in USB hub in the cinema display is the trouble maker. I have an external WesternDigital dual media 250G HD connected through the cinema display, using both USB and FireWire cable attached to it. If I start up my XP in bootcamp, the video card gets crazy. It randomly flashes the screens, flickers, and many times just freezes the machine. Restarting the computer, doesn't solve anything. Screen comes up, but stays black. The cinema display doesn't respond to anything. Disconnect the DVI cable and voila, black screen turns to welcome screen. It's a long list how many different way I got to the conclusion that if I disconnect the USB cable and leave the cinema display's built in USB hub empty, solves the video problems. Now I can play battlefield2, farcry in full screen (23inch) and it seems that the screen remains error free. I don't know if it helps to anyone else, or if it's really the solution, but I thought I share my info with you guys.
