'ello all,

I'm away from my Intel iMac for the weekend, but when I left I had this problem:

I just installed the sound driver, and had to move to OS X. The next time I went to XP, the startup grey Windows logo appeared, and it went to the next screen, which is usually the Windows startup blue screen, however instead of going into XP, it just hung up with a bunch of text. The text of course means something, but it was similar to the text on the screen when first installing windows (bascally a terminal window with a bunch of errors/technical jargon).

I know this is super vague, I meant to post earlier, but I was in a hurry to leave my apartment.

Will I have to reinstall XP, or has somebody encountered this before?

Thanks :)

Yeah I am thinking you are going to have to reinstall... Try not to use drivers unless they have been verified by others on the same system as yours...

Well, the strange thing is this is the reccommended sound driver that was verified working (the sound did work) on the wiki site... strange :(

I had a similar problem to this although I can't attribute it to having just installed anything in particular. Also, all drivers I installed are the recommended drivers from the wiki.

What happened with me was I was happily using WIndows, installing various bits of software to test, and I got the usual Program not responding type error and Windows appeared to hang. So I held down the power button until the machine shutdown. When I rebooted and tried to boot into Windows I was presented with a black screen with various bits of white text (sorry to be vague too!)... it provided me with some kind of command prompt but just gave Syntax Error whenever I tried any commands, so not sure if it was actually a command line or not.

I tried to reinstall WIndows over the top and it reinstalled fine, but provided me with a Windows dual boot menu, suggesting it now had 2 separate Windows installations on the partition! Neither of the installations would boot anyway, and thats where I left it. I havent tried to reinstall since. Thinking of waiting a while, see what other issues get picked up.

This was on an iMac 17 inch by the way.
