Hi everybody,
I recently found this link (http://homepage.mac.com/paul74/MDDFanExtensionMod.htm) about a guy who was able to control the speed of his fan on his MDD. He lowered all the temperature parameters on the applefan.kext in order for the fan to start to kick in at a lower temp. He decreased the temp by 3°C and was pleased by the result.
I did the same mod on my 17" MBP, but lowered the temp by 10°C! My MBP who usually run at around 51-54°C while surfing the web or doing some text editing with word now runs at 45-47°C. So it's a big improvement for me.
Try at your own risk, remember to duplicate your applefan.kext before doing your mod, and I simply followed exactly to the letter Paul's MDD mod, clearly explained and provided in the link above.

PS: many thanks to Paul for publishing his MDD mod.
