Boot Rom version MBP11.0055.B03
SMC Version 1.2f10

I have a full not upgrade version of Windows XP with SP2 and I cannot get it to work on either Boot Camp or Parallel. It starts the Windows installtion (blue screen) but always gets the same error on both apps: session3_initialization_failed. Apparently some DVD Roms are not compatible with WinXP SP2. I tried WIN XP sp1 and it works everytime. What do I do? How do I make a copy of the Windows XP Sp2 cd so it will actually read in my Mac DVD player???

PLease help before I chuck my brand new computer out the window!

I solved the problem so I am posting the solution here to save anyone else from going throught the hell that I did.

If you are trying to install a Windows XP with SP2 onto a Macbook Pro and you get an error during the Windows installation sequence that says:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Session3_initialization_failed."

Down at the bottom it reads a series of digits:
*** STOP: 0x0000006f (0xc0000020,0x00000000,0x00000000, 0x00000000)

This means you have a DVD ROM that does not read your Windows XP SP2 Cd well. It will read Window XP SP1 but not 2 and you MUST USE SP2. You need to make an Image of the WIndow XP cd on a Windows based computer. ONce you do this the file on the cd will have the extension .ISO this is not compatible with MACs parallel. Copy the newly burned cd onto your MAC hard drive then create an image of that using the disk utility under Applications/Utility/Disk Utility. Put a blank cd into the Mac and burn an image from your Mac. The extension will read .CDR reinsert the burned cd into the Mac and proceed with Parallel. Parallel can now read the imaged Windows XP with SP2 with no problems. I hope this helps you poor poor souls who try to do this on your own like I did.
