I have read that the boot sequence on XP disables the USB and FW ports so that it is "impossible" to boot from an external drive. Is this something that can be worked out by those of you with the commensurate skill to do so, or is it a dead end? I would love to do this but want to keep my internal drive as large as possible for various tasks including video editing. If I could get this on an external FW drive it would be awesome.
Some have indicated that it is only a matter of time - so should I be finding a copy of XP on ebay now in anticipation?
Also, is there a way to prepare the disk that does not require Nero? Having to spend that money to burn one disk is hard to take....
Thanks
Tom
