ok so i created an 8 gb OS X partition and 8 gb XP partition. xp is up and running just fine on my core solo mini.
I can reboot without issue.
However, I went into disk management and created a 30 gb FAT32 partition (to be used for common storage b/t OS X and Windoze). It creates and formats just fine, and is accessible.
Then I reboot, and when i get back into window, that partition is gone, vanished! Do i need to create new partitions in OS X for them to survive? or is the boot loader somehow eradicating my partition?
thanks =)

Here's my thoughts. I'm assuming you've already partitioned the drive, but you left some space designated as unused (so you need to add a partition, but you're not changing existing partitions). The original partition table was written by OSX's disk utility, so I'd probably let it do any further configuration. In all honesty, I'm a little surprised windows disk management didn't mess up the drive altogether. Has anyone else played around with this?

XP won't do anything to the drive we don't tell it to, so unless you fudge around with the efi or os x partitions, it should be fine.
I will try partitioning the new "common" drive in OS X and see how that goes...

How can i create a new partition in the free space with the disk utility in OS X? I have 14 GB free Space on my HD, but in disk utility i can't see this. Is there a terminal command to do that?

ok i'm starting to remember why i hate OS X lol. the stupid disk utility is severely limited (typical apple not wanting to "scare" their users by giving them too much control, sigh). /rant off
i went to d/l iPartition but they don't have a version compatible with intel macs yet evidently.
anyone else know of a way to partition my empty space?
