Just a tip. Disable your open firmware password. OR use one of the methods of resetting it.

I could be wrong, but I think the Intel Macs don't have Open Firmware anymore. That's what EFI is replacing.

There is an application in the Applications>>Utilities folder on the install DVD>> Open Firmware Password (version 1.1, PowerPC).
I don't know if it is truely an open firmware password but the app still works like older ones. I had set mine as a low level prevention if a wing-nut would steal my MBP (work in a school).
Must hold the option key down (just like in pre-Intel days) to boot from a CD/DVD. This step was blocking the XP install (after the first boot during the install).
