My 1st stage of install runs flawlessly but when I reboot, CD out, it sees a bootable HD and bootable partition but just stops there.
On Windows SP2 sources for this. Is anyone using a slipstreamed sp2 build? Or is there such a thing as an original SP2 CD from Microsoft?
Any thoughts?

Almost all newer releases of Win XP Pro are SP2 out of the box.
ALL dell oem packs are now SP2... (you can ONLY legally use these if you trash XP on your dell box and DO NOT REINSTALL IT ON THAT BOX)

I get the same thing. It finds the partition and says Booting... but just hangs there. Strange thing is I have the same exact thing on a Mini I'm working with as well as my MBP. Here's something even weirder, after several tries at this I decided to erase the XP partition but when I went back to install I forgot to insert the slipstreamed CD, nothing was in the drive. Expecting to to get the flipped Windows icon I actually got the same bit of console stuff indicating that it had found a good partition and was booting. How could this be if I erased the partition with my partial install? It seems like every time I try this install something else weird happens. Oh, and I am working from a legit copy of Windows. Anyone got any ideas?

Try hitting enter twice after it hangs.

I wish I could tell you exactly what I did but I was able to get it to work on both my MBP and the Mini. :D
On the Mini, I bit the bullet and repartitioned the drive. I guess that did it there.
On the MBP I threw a new slipstream at it that combined an original SP1 installer with an updater with SP2. Earlier I had been trying to install using the updater and the original SP1 installer in an attached USB DVD burner. I think success relies a great deal on the type of installer you are trying to use.
Funny thing though is that the Mini seems faster I guess because the graphics accell is not turned off.
Good luck, Keep at it!
