Panther on MacBook? No. Apple switched to intel chips after Tiger was released. So Tiger is the first OS X version that can run on both powerpc and intel CPUs. Panther is PowerPC only. You cannot install it on a MacBook just like you cannot install Windows on PowerPCs.
But why panther? Your MacBook didn't come with a Tiger install disk? You lost it?

I lost the disk and that was the first one i could find. so you say if i get a tiger cd that should work?
Also i got most of the drivers working for xp except the video card isnt working properly

As long as the Tiger disk you find came with an IntelMac and not a PPC based machine, it'll work. Also, I don't think that the retail Tiger upgrade disks will do you any good either... since all of the IntelMacs came with Tiger, there would have been no reason for Apple to produce an Intel compatible retail upgrade. (In other words... it'd probably be easier to just look for your original disk.)
