Hi, Ive succesfully installed xp pro on my 20 inch imac and it works perfectly. Theres just one slight thing thats bugging me. Since It took me a few tries to get xp to load, i cant just press enter on the xp icon and wait for it to load. I have to select which xp pro to load when there is only one (its showing two and if i click the bottom one nothing happens) Anyway i know its a matter of replacing a file or something but i dont know which. This has happened to me before on regular pcs and ive ended up reinstalling in frustration. Im sure there are better places to post this but Im not sure where. If anyone could help Id appreciate it. My email is powermank5k800@gmail.com

Thanks

mike

well i hope you will read it here... but here is what you can try...

right click on "My Computer" in XP and go to "properties"
Click on the "Advanced" tab"
Click on the "Settings" button under "Startup and Recovery"

from here you can do it two ways, edit the boot.ini or just uncheck a checkbox... i'll explain both...

unchecking a box...

uncheck the box that says "Time to display list of operating systems:"

thats it :)

edit the boot.ini

click on the "Edit" button (its the only one) and you should get a notepad window with something like the following:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

you probably have two "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)..." you need to delete the one that you dont use, so if you hit enter when it asks you which OS to use, delete the bottom one... if you delete the wrong one, you could get stuck not booting which is why its easy to just uncheck the box...

good luck!!!
