So I had to take my Mac Pro into get the RAID Card replaced. I'm still under warranty so I don't have to pay the insane price of the card or the service fee.

I tell the Genius that I've added a HD to the optical drive bay to bypass the RAID Card/Windows incompatibility problem. He didn't seem to care.

However, I get a call from them telling me that having rEFIt installed will void my warranty if I bring it back in again.

WTF!?

Did I miss this warning? Since when is software cause to void a warranty? I mean, I opened the case and installed a HD in the optical drive bay and that's OK, but I install a Boot Selector and it can void my warranty?

Anyone else have this problem?

I've never heard of such a thing... but thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to yank rEFIt from my system if I ever need to take it in for warranty service. (Come to think of it I might just do that anyway, since I haven't used the installation of Vista on that third partition in somewhere over a year now... and my DVR software would certainly breath a little easier with the additional space. ;) )
