I installed the firmware, got Windows installed, and then went to install the drivers. It uncompressed, and then went to a window that says:
"The file 'usbehci.sys' on (Unknown) is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK."

It then says "Copy files from:"
and the initial location is:
c:\docume~1\mneumark\locals~1\temp\pft19~tmp\xp

I do not know where to find this file. Should I just try reinstalling XP?

Is it possible to get a response to this? I have the same problem.

I pulled the driver exe off the disc and tried the install, and though I did not get that same error, I got new ones.

I am DL'ing a new one with the hopes a new burn will work.

MBP 1.8 1gb mem

I installed with not using a SP2 xp install, family gold edition disc, and right now I am dl SP2 update for XP.

I figure I should probably give my setup. I have a MBP 2.0 Ghz, and my copy of windows is Windows XP Pro SP2 (I am a School of Engineering student and this was downloaded as an ISO from e-academy.

The wierd things I noticed that I thought I would describe are:
When I boot from the Windows install disk, my keyboard does not respond. I have a targus USB number pad, and when I boot from the Windows CD with that plugged in, my keyboard DOES work. Really strange.

When I shut down Windows (I did some Windows updates, haven't tested this since) it freezes while shutting down.

Installing the drivers fails. Actually, it does install the ATI driver, but does not get past it as it is looking for usbehci.sys, which it can't find.

My two last ideas were to:
1) find a copy of usbehci.sys online and put it on my machine and try the driver disk again.
2) Do Windows Updates until I can't anymore (I can't use ethernet and wireless, but Firewire works, and so I am sharing internet to firewire on my girlfriend's iBook) and hope that it installs usbehci.sys.

Any ideas? Help?

I had plugged in an external Apple usb keyboard prior to starting the XP install, it fixed my issue with the laptop keyboard not working.

The-Hole: I figured it out, at least for me. I'm dumb. I thought my copy of Windows had SP2 but I was wrong. Open the System Control Panel and go to General. If it says Service Pack 2, you have it, otherwise, you don't. I tried installing it normally and it doesn't work. The only thing I can think of now is to slipstream my XP Installer with SP2.

You have a non SP2 version of Windows installed. I just did a re-do on the whole thing using a brand new XP with SP2 and all drivers installed perfect.
