How do I watch a DVD on my MacBook? It says: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer."

Also I have PQDVD to convert movies to my iPod. Does not work.

download, install and tell me if it works...

I have Cyberlinks PowerDVD which installs the needed codec directly, that's why I havn't tested it myself

You are the man! Thank you so much; everything works perfectly.

Was I the only one not knowing about this?

Thanks for the tip, question for OS X, is there a similar thing to allow playing mpeg 2 videos?

I'm a firm believer in VLC. if you ever get the chance to use it then I suggest you do! It plays ALOT of movie types. I haven't had it installed for a while however because I didn't know that it was released for the intel Macs

I have the latest nightly build of VLC for intel macs(4/7). It works well and there have been no errors when I used it today.

I believe the address is nightlies.videolan.org
Definately the best media player for Intel Macs b/c it supports virtually all codecs

Hi guys. I successfully dual booted my iMac but I'm having a couple of problems. I got the same message as Chrigel when I tried to play a DVD (Office Space) in WMP, so I downloaded XP Codec 1.3.4. This got rid of the original error message but I still can't play DVDs in WMP. Now, when I attempt to play a DVD, it says: "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a problem occured with digital copyright protection." Any ideas of how to solve this problem?

have you tried to watch the same dvd in osx? does it work or not? could be some kind of dvd protection which does not allow you to watch the dvd on a computer. does this message appear with all dvd's you try to play?
