Hi,
I have a 20" iMac with 2GB RAM and 256MB video RAM. Apart from that, it's standard configuration.
at the second "2000:0EFE int 13_48" after "Patching succeeded.", the system hangs and doesn't do anything else. I have a Win XP Pro Volume Licence CD with SP2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing here. Mac Mini Core Solo using XP Pro w/SP2 Volume License and it just hangs. Do I need to use a home CD or is something else wrong?

Same thing. 20" iMac, 1GB Ram, 250gb Hard Drive. Also using the SP2 Volume License version. Sounds like we all have that in common?

Still no luck. It migh be that both CD's I've tried have come originally with SP1a then had SP2 slipstreamed so it has a win51ip.sp1 AND win51ip.sp2 in the root of the CD. do the new CD's with SP2 integrated that you buy have just the SP2 file?

i don't even get the "patching succeeded" part. i just get a whole bunch of int blah blah blah lines. if i hit the enter key, it whirs to life again, but i never get to the partition screen. i have tried an xp pro sp2 corporate cd, and xp home sp2 oem cd, and a win2003 sp1 corporate cd. they all react a little differently, but same end result, bunch of int blah blah blah lines and no blue partition screen.
i believe that it is somehow loading and is interactive, because i can usually hit F3 twice to make it reboot (i have installed windows about 3,700 times so i know the shortcut keys to text-mode setup). I have tried hitting enter, F8, then down arrow and enter in an attempt to get it through to the file copy portion without being able to see what i'm doing, but have not been successful.
can the mac mini folks who have been successful chime in here????

Hello.
Here a solution who works for me on a mac mini core solo.
When the system starts and show the first entrys like "2000:0E...." hold down the F6 key and wait until the CD-ROM stops. 20-30 sec. or so...
Then press ENTER.
Now the system shows you something like patch has applied and start into the blue screen for partitioning windows...
jann

Pressing F6 at setup doesn't solve issues. F2 allows ASR mode, but F6 during "initializing setup" does not fix the "lock after "Patching Succeeded".
F6 says to press enter to continue
I do this, then get "Patching Scueeded" then 2 INT 13_48's then "Setup is starting windows"
Then the system grinds to halt after 30 secs or so of the disk spinning.
Just to let ppl know, the system does NOT stop and "Do nothing" right after the "Choosing Windows" boot
The How To says: "IMPORTANT NOTE: This will launch the XP setup. For about 2 and a half minutes there will be NO FEEDBACK WHATSOEVER."
This is not the case with me. I get the IMMEDIATE "white text of black of (i guess XOM.efi) then setup starts in a small window on the upper left of my screen (about 5"x3" on my MBP 2.16gHz) and setup starts loading drivers (HAL, etc) ..then
Patch #0 applied at 00707188
Patch #0 Found more than once at 00707188 and 00748188

Patch #1 applied at 00744B1C
Patch Succeeded.
2000:0EEE int 13_48
2000:0EEE int 13_48
THEN setup hangs.

My mac mini hangs before patching succeeded.
So for me the "F6 solution" resolved the problem.
Is this a job for narf2006?
Mabye solved in Version 0.1.1 of XOM.efi.

I have the same Problem on an 20" iMac. The System boot from a modified XP Pro SP2 Corp. Ed. CD and after a while i become the "Patching succeeded" Message and two "2000: OE FE: int 13_48" Messages. After that the System hang.
But there is no small Windows with the XP Driver Installation on my System. At the beginning i become a message "int 37 triggered at 2000:06CB. Ingnoring...", after the "2000: OEFE: int 13_48" messages, but the bootoprocess going on after that.
I have 3 Partions + the EFI-Partition on my System:
1. EFI Partiotion 200 MB
2. HFS+ Partition 60 GB
3. HFS+ Partition 160 GB
4. FAT32 Partition 15 GB
The FAT32 Partition ist erasing at the Beginning of the XP Bootprocess. Under Mac OS X in Disk Utility i can't see the FAT32 Partition anymore. OS X is running fine.

So the F6 and enter trick actually gets me to the partitioning screen. I am able to choose the format type but I get a hang on copying files. It just stays at 0%. Any other keyboard voodoo to get it going?

With the updated xom.efi file for the 20" iMac from http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=12257 my iMac boot win XP now to the Partition Screen.
But i can't install xp. I see the efi Partition and my two hfs+ Partitions in the Partition Disk Screen and an 15 GB unpartition area. This was my FAT32 Partition, but it was erasing during the Patch/Boot. I can select this in the Installer, but i become an Error, that the max. number of Partitions on this Disk are already available and i can't create a new Partition. Must i repartition the whole Disk with 2 Partitions and reinstall Mac OS X?

20" iMacs are not supported currently. The current xom.efi that I released (see the link) is not yet completely working.
Me and blanka fixed the VGA issue on 20" last night, but obviously theres still some issues with installation. I'll talk to him when he signs back online tonight and see if we can continue working on this.

PS: Can ANYONE please tell me if they are seeing the windows installer in a 5x3 window at the top left of the main screen when the XOM.efi is printing mbrUpdate, CD ROM booting LBA, etc....
I am actually seeing the blue text screen for the windows installer in top left corner and can interact (F2, F6, etc) with it. then it says "Setup is starting Windows" and then locks up.
Anyone else getting the window? No one that responded to me is actually getting the window.

I tried several WinXP CDs (home sp2, corp xp pro sp2, mce 2005, etc.). Finally an OEM win xp pro sp2 disc seems to get farthest on my mini solo. Without the F6 maneouver it has a lot of CD i/o, then halts before it gets to "patching". With F6 and "enter", i can get past patching succeeded, then it halts again. a second hit to the "enter" key and then the partition info comes up (making me temporarily very excited). But, once setup begins, it never makes it past 0%.

having worked with windows installs for years, I can tell you that if you get this error then you have not created your cd correctly. you are probably missing a file, potentially having to do with sp2 - there are a few files that you HAVE to have in the root of your cd:
win51
win51ip
win51ip.sp2
(if you have home instead of pro it should be win51ic)
are these files on your cd?

It's a 17" iMac. I've tried both the standard XOM.efi and the 20"-specific XOM.efi module. I've tried 2 different CDs as well -- an Academic edition and a Corporate edition. Both came SP2 enabled. They both have the same behavior booting up. The white-text on black background EFI output in the center of the screen, and the white-on-blue Windows startup. It finishes loading the drivers and then stalls out on "Setup is starting Windows" (I forget the exact verbage). It never makes it to the partition screen. I got the stock computer, and did an aftermarket upgrade to 1GB of RAM. The RAM makes no difference to Windows. Without the extra DIMM, the mini-Linux distro at osxbook.com boots. With it, as their documentation suggests, Linux just spins.

I have more CD coaster than probably anyone, I've been burning mad cd's to get this work. I've gone through about 43 (on this project) I have about 100 other useless cd's for coasters. You should try putting cool labels on them, they're great for entertaining. Also good to play frisbey with and they can be used to make all kinds of decorations. lol put them inder furnature instead of the little rubber feet. Getting to more serious issues... Nero is important.

My problem is even stranger: first time I installed, it worked with some copy problems.
No I am using the SAME CD but it has that hanging problem you described !
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

1.mkisofs didn't work using fink in terminal/on linux
2.x-cd-roast didn't work.
3. all free programs for window fell on their faces and died.
Use my xomhelper application from OSX...it has worked in my testing for installing the xom.efi and creating the CD from OSX using the ORIGINAL patch files.

You should be clear to just redo XP without touching OSX. I had to do XP's Part 1 twice just to get the partitions listed correctly.

Setup stops
PS: Can ANYONE please tell me if they are seeing the windows installer in a 5x3 window at the top left of the main screen when the XOM.efi is printing mbrUpdate, CD ROM booting LBA, etc....
I am actually seeing the blue text screen for the windows installer in top left corner and can interact (F2, F6, etc) with it. then it says "Setup is starting Windows" and then locks up.
Anyone else getting the window? No one that responded to me is actually getting the window.

Here's the deal. I've been running windows fine since the XOM came out.
This morning I installed Alcohol 120% (what a piece of crap) and it installed some virtual SCSI driver. After that, I couldn't see my HFS drives anymore.
Now I came home to troubleshoot, and windows won't even boot. I get the same errors that you have all been posting.
If I try to boot windows with the CD to reinstall, it works fine, except when i get to the screen where you select your partition, my keyboard stops working.
anybody?
