Hi guys,
Been lurking here for a while, finally got a 20" intel iMac yesterday...my boss bought me it as a present for the hard work i had done recently :D
Anyway, all is good, and i am loving it.
One thing though, is there anyway to turn the screen off when you leave the computer.
I dont want to put it to sleep as this will stop the net connection when i am downloading stuff, i just want to turn the screen off.
Am i missing something?
Thanks
Mark

You need to select "system Preferences" then click on "energy Saver". There are two sliders on this page 1, Sleep - set this to never. 2 display - set this to 1 min if you are leaving the computer and the display will turn off and your net connection will continue to work .
Hope this helps

Thanks for you reply.
I suppose that is the long winded solution...i was hoping the was a button i could press to turn the screen on and off at will.
Oh well.
P.S. still loving the Mac after using windows for over over 10 years :D

You must have a very nice boss!
That's one of the down sides about the iMacs, no screen power-off switch.

Well iBook's can! Well, kind of. You can just barely tell what's going on but pratically off.

I haven't tried this but it sounds like it should do what you're going for. It's Universal too :)

That sounds like a great little tool -- though, I agree with one of the comments under the "application" version... I think it would be most ideal if it was available in the form of a screen saver. Perhaps I'll e-mail the author, after I've had a chance to test out his current offerings this evening.

I agree fully, and will keep checking the website, but for now it works for me.:)
