I'm just curious as to what your experience has been. I want a gamers perspective. Does your system still get crazy hot? I'm contimplating doing it when I put my faster HD in. Thanks.

I did it - I am kinda disappointed with the outcome though - it doesnt seem to do much (if anything) about the system getting crazy hot.
I wrote about it in my blog.

Im sure it cant hurt to replace this with a thinner layer of thermal grease:

I'm way too hesitent on cracking open the little beast. I'll just wait until I get some 2nd degree burns, or continue slipping a book under it and my lap.
If there was a performance boost, I'd rip it open right away though.

Can you post the pictures of what the thermal grease looks like after you've applied it?
And Arctic Silver does take a while to settle in, but you can use your computer in the meantime without issue. After it settles in, it might drop the temperature 1-2 Celsius so it's not a big deal.

I didnt take pictures of the thermal grease after application. It looked very similar to the below picture from the Arctic Silver site:

On second glance at the instructions, it said to put a very very thin layer. I put a layer similar to the picture. This is nothing compared to what I took off. I doubt that is causing the excessive heat.
