On this thread, some people are having trouble running the Assistant after today's firmware update. Anyone else?

seems that it was to help address heat issues.

yup - i can second that now... my temperatures seemed to be decreased about 5° C overall (when idle). haven't tested heavy cpu usage yet, but from what i read in the apple forum the temperatures should be lower. i guess the fans will kick in earlyer now (not only at 80° as mine did before).
so - heat issue getting better - go ahead with the whine issue apple!

But can you still run Boot Camp Assistant in OSX?

I can't verify that it will partition or run the windows installer (since I'm not in the mood to spend 3 hours restoring everything) but the program launches just fine, and I would be surprised if it didn't work. This firmware upgrade shouldn't have affected anything related to the Boot Camp Assistant.

one more thing i found is that my external harddrive (2,5" 80 gb toshiba 5400 rpm) which is in en external case (firewire/usb como case from transcend) is not recogniced anymore using the firewire connection only. it looks like not enough energy comes trough - i have to plug a second usb cable to make it work - which is exactly the reason why i got the way more expensive firewire enclosure... well - anyone with the same problem? has anyone done any pre/post battery life tests?
