Sound on Mac Mini

Has anyone got sound to work on the Mac Mini running Windows XP? Default install gave me errors when trying to play sound files. I then tried installing various drivers from this site and others. My current situation is I have sound acting like it is playing now but no sound is coming out either port in the back.

Any ideas or pointers for which drivers and install instructions for the mac mini?

what kind of file-type?
mp3,wav,aac...?
if you tring to play Windows' file,mac may be unable to play it.

I'm confused why the file type matters? Windows is ABLE to play it, I just do not get SOUND OUTPUT on any ports with my headphones plugged in to test.

Let me be a little more clear.

Which drivers have been known to work to get sound workong on Windows XP on a Mac Mini?
