I posted a possible solution here...
can someone please test it and report back

I just posted the following there as well:

My understanding of the hid2hci.exe utility is that it only works with Bluetooth v1.1 - CSR-based dongles. It never worked for any third-party devices I tested it with.

Aaaaaaaaaand I think linking to pirated software is against forum policy...

You may want to read my warning post about various Bluetooth drivers and how the firmware is handled in some of them which may result in breaking your Bluetooth device for good - both in Windows & Mac OS X. Also, the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard does NOT work with WIDCOMM. Details here:

I installed the anycom driver and have the bluetooth icon in my system tray with a red symbol. I reboot, and run the utility (with the 05ac 1000 as options) and modified the btusb.inf as noted in the anycom/bin folder.

I do not have any usb devices listed under bluetooth, but I do under not recognized items. I look at details and see the 05ac so i figure that is is. when I update drivers and point to that bin file, It states there is no software for my hardware in there.

I have tried uninstalling the device and rebooting, still no go.

any ideas?

never mind, from another forum....

for 20" iMac bluetooth follow the directions, but when editing the btusb.inf, use the following

USB\Vid_05ac&Pid_8206 <---notice it is 8206 not 8205

Works like a charm.

what does it mean, to... "reboot, and run the utility (with the 05ac 1000 as options)"

-i think i'm messing up right here! i try typing all that in on the run command line and it just tells me to browse for it....

i'm having a hard time getting bluetooth the way i want it...

you need to add the utility to your startup items, then right click and where you see it mentioning the path and utility name, add a space then 05ac 1000 to the end. That should launch it with the options needed. Put the utility somewhere on the HD then put a shortcut to it in the startup folder.

Someone from another forum has made an automated script to enable bluetooth for you. Confirmed working on my 17in. iMac

And works on iMac 20". Thanks to the maker of the script for making it easy. (Typed with Mac BT keyboard and clicked with Mac BT mouse ;)

There was a link to download a script to use for bluetooth to work here but no longer functional I installed XP SP2 on my macbook pro via bootcamp and everything works except for bluetooth.

I dont see any bluetooth control panel except when I go to Network conection properties. The bluetooh tooh icon there gives eror when you attempt to add bluetooth devices.

Same issue (Macbook, Bootcamp 1.1.2). Bluetooth appears in Device Manager, but not in Control Panel. Hence, doesn't seem to be any way to add bluetooth devices!

Any solution to this?

Anybody have a link to the script above that still works?

The fact that the MBP was shipping with only 2 USB ports sucks a lot. I use my computer for music, and my MIDI controllers are USB. I also only get one firewire port, and my audio interface takes it. So I guess my ideal situation would be to put my external drive in a firewire case (instead of its current USB enclosure) and daisy chain it with my audio interface, and then get a bluetooth mouse to free up an additional USB port for the second MIDI controller.

I don't want to shell out $50 for a bluetooth mouse before I know it will work in XP as well as OS X, and obviously, a USB bluetooth dongle doesn't solve my issues.
