Hi
Two months ago I bought a MBP 15 inch and last week I sold it and bought the 17 inch. On both I was/am running almost exclusively Windows XP, and was surprised to find some pretty huge differences between both machines:
- Power saving works(!!!) on the MBP 17 while it was completely non existent on MBP 15. My MBP 17 shows the screensaver and turns off the screen after the predefined timeout. Havent tried auto system standby and hibernation yet.
- The MBP 15 would turn down screen brightness quite a bit when changing from maximum to a notch below. The 17 doesnt do this.
- Headphones and speakers would both work and always be on with MBP 15. Headphones don't work at all with MBP 17 (only speakers).
I do not know if Apple has updated some of the bootcamp drivers from a couple of months ago. Fact is that I downloaded and installed boot camp on the MBP 15 two months ago and on the MBP 17 just two days ago. I suppose the driver CD is exactly the same?
I am curious to see if some of these behaviors can be confirmed by other MBP 17 owners, and if we can keep a thread going on the differences between both models and the best workarounds/alternative drivers to solve each model's problems.
