View Full Version : screen starts totaly dimmed in XP

for some reason (i dont know what i did) all of a sudden everytime i reboot into XP, xp will load all the way up until i can see my desktop and then it will dim all the way to the lowest setting everytime i reboot. i dont know what to do or what i did to cause it but its really annoying.
i have a mbp 15 with 2 gb ram.
please help

this exact same thing happens ot me too. is it just dimming all the way?

yeah it will fully load windows and then it will go totally dark ... i then have to press FN + F2 to bring my screen back to total brightness
i am still trying to figure out what i did to make this happen ... have you fixed it or figured it out?

I have had this problem with my 17" macbook pro if i unistall the ati drivers in safemode then it boots up at full brightness.
i have had loads of problems with the 17" and the video drivers .. max res 1440 and no ati control panel + the dimming.
im going to try and install the latests ati drivers and see if they work.
I will let you know what happens
i never had any probs with my 15" macbook pro grrrrr makes me wish id not sent it back now.

ok update
i just installed the latest omega drivers (cat 6.5 based ones) rad_w2kxp_omega_38252_7z.exe and the first boot up i got a BSOD but after a restart its fine no dimming and full res etc
just installing ut2003 cod2 bf2
oh and 3d studio max photoshop macromedia studio for work :)
but so far so good
[EDIT] i get a BSOD after i launch any game. it loads the game then once its on the splash screen it just bombs out... :( [EDIT]
