I installed Windows XP on MBP 17". It works perfect. Then I wanted to boot in Mac OS and probably Boot Camp erased some files during the making of the new partition so that Mac OS could not be booted. I erased the Mac OS partition and now work in windows. I would like to install Mac OS, so I downloaded Mac OS X x86 10.4.6 (I tried two different cd's). I enter a cd and press C, I get black screen and flashing cursor, that's it. It's not loading. Can someone help me? Dunno what to do.

Downloaded Mac OS X? Did you use the Restore CDs that came with it? Also, Boot Camp does not erase any Mac OS X files when partitioning.

Try holding alt instead of the C button on start up, then selecting the CD from there. It is probably a good idea to use the restore CDs that came with the computer, as they are guaranteed to work.

The problem is that I lost all the cd's that came with the machine. I tried to hold Alt and to boot from cd this way, but the problem remains the same. May be someone knows where I can download restore cd's?

Try calling Apple and see if they can send you a new set of CDs.

U have to pay pretty much money. That's why I'am actually asking if I can download it somewhere.

While there are sites you can obtain it, it is illegal and is not allowed to be discussed here. Sorry.

It can't have been more than 6 Months since you got this machine and you've lost the CD's? Will Apple give you the CD's for less than the $129 they cost in stores?

The download from Apple of 10.4.7 is just an update, but I guess you were talking about some bootlegged version. Come on now, this site is for Boot Camp users, not Bootlegged users. :D (Ok, maybe it wasn't that clever)

What i think is going on here is a trying to get help on a cracked "works on any beige box" OSX to install, and just pertending its to restore a mac (or realy for a restore, in wich case it will not work because it's cracked to work on BIOS driven computers), - seriously, if you "Lost your CDs" and "need to download" it, you would download <MacOS X> 10.4.x intel, NOT <OS x86> which is "The Scenes" nickname for the hacked version.

This hacked Version obviously doesn't work how it should on a real Mac. - So EITHER "download" a proper not hacked Version, or try the shady hacker circles it came from, they can help - i am almost ashamed i know, but hey, they brought me to the MBP i have today *G*

Thanx a lot, guys. I bought a copy in Apple Service centre (not very expensive). I installed it and now it works perfect. I wonder if you actually can download it, it is about 12 Gb!!!
