Hi folks,

I gather from the other thread on the MBP 17" that there is no solution on the 15" to get the internal speakers working with proper routing (and speaker shutoff) to the headphones when plugged in?

I just thought a specific thread may ferret out somebody who's worked this one out?

Cheers.

I didn't get the 17" solution to work on my 15" MBP, but I do have the following solution that works for me until the drivers are updated:

Download Devcon from here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311272

and download the attached Speakers.zip file

I normally place the extracted files (including devcon.exe) in a folder called Speakers in the Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP folder which is located in C:\Program Files. I then create two icons in my quick launch that run minimized and call the batch files. I make no guarantees if this will work or not, or if it will damage your Windows install, so use these files at your own risk. These files came from someone that had a 17" MBP, and I changed some values in these files to make them work with our 15" MBPs.

One last note on this thing. If you are playing audio and try to make this work, it may not. It is best to stop playing all audio on the system, then to run Speakerson.bat or Speakersoff.bat.

Here is a link to a thread that describes what these files do:
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=19996&hl=devcon

Unfortunately I cannot find the original post that I downloaded these files from to give the creator credit to the person that created them for the 17" MBP. If you can find it, please let me know and I will edit this post with a link to it. The only credit I take is for modifying them to work with the 15" MBP.

you have to find this in your registry (run->regedit):
{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and exchange 0005 in the *.reg file with the nr. which has this little text "sigmatel high definition audio codec"

EDIT: how do you figure out you to disable hdaudio??

On my MBP 15" 1.83, I had success with the following:
http://forum.osx86project.org/lofiversion/index.php/t19996.html

EXCEPT that I used "88" instead of "05" in the off.reg file.

So I end up with two shortcuts on my desktop, one to enable and one to disable the internal speakers. Not ideal, but it works. And contrary to the MBP 17" solution elsewhere in this forum, the internal microphone still works!
