So is anyone here getting a Mac Pro? I wonder if Apple will release it with an EFI that supports legacy booting.

My best friend is getting a Mac Pro, but he got a bunch of optional uprgades, so they say it won't ship til September. However, I'm still a little new to Macs. I understand the idea of what legacy booting is, but do you just mean supporting BIOS or what in specific?

Yes, it DOES support Legacy Booting via the BIOS Emulation Layer like all the other Intel Macs do.

have drivers been released by apple?

Not yet, but unlike the other intel Macs there isn't realy that much custom devices in them that need special drivers.

The "problem" with finding drivers on intel Macs to Date always was:
"...iSight not working..."
"...Notebook Keybord..."
"...Keyboard Backlight..."
"...FrontRow IR Receiver..."
and the likes....

The new MacPro is pretty straight foreward Intel Server Chipset, standard ATI or nVidia Graphics, none of the "Problematic Custom Apple Devices"

So my best guess is:
Intels, ATIs and nVidias Downloadsites will provide what you need.

my mac Pro will not be with me for another month as I ordered it with the ATI card
when I order my copy of XP is there any reason not to get the Media version (that is if I can find an OEM copy anywhere)
I was thinking that way I could hook it up with my X Box 360

will this work or should I play safe and just call new egg for a XP sp2 home OEM copy?
thanks to all who try this stuff first!

and 1.1 is out
What's new in this version:
- Support for the latest Intel-based Macintosh computers
- Easier partitioning using preset buttons for popular sizes
- Ability to install Windows XP on any internal disk
- iSight camera support

- Right-click when pressing the right-hand Apple key on Apple keyboards

Updating to Boot Camp 1.1 beta
If you previously installed Boot Camp beta, you should update to Boot Camp 1.1 beta. You don't need to partition your hard drive again (unless you want to change its size) or reinstall your Macintosh and Windows software or documents, but it's very important to update the Boot Camp Assistant software, create a new Macintosh Drivers for Windows CD and install the updated software it contains on Windows XP. Complete instructions are provided in the Installation and Setup Guide included with the Boot Camp 1.1 beta software.
