View Full Version : The Next Step: Quick Switching between OS

I'm just throwing ideas out there, because i do not possess the necessary skills to code this. I'm thinking about a way to quickly switch between the OS's . Obviously, if we want this to be a very smooth and clean solution, there has to be a way to switch between them easily.

Since OSX and XP both possess hibernating capabilities, would it be possible to put one to sleep and then switch to the other one (bring it out of hibernation)?

For this to work nicely, i'm thinking there should be some sot of controls from within each OS to switch back and forth. not unlike the fast-user-switching feature - but now it's fast-os-switching.

I'm sure this will have to wait until all the dust settles on getting it installed to begin with, but i thought it'd be a nice concept to look forward to.

What do you think? Blanka, narf, clay, can you guys pull off another rabbit out of your hats? :D

This *is* feasible with Xen and Intels Virtualizer. Xen should be here sometime later this year for the mac.

all i have to say is:

my mini is so fast. it is almost rediculous. i only have 512mb ram. if i upgraded this would be one of the quickest machines i have ever used. and my MBP isn't even here yet. btw. i think i just figured out video

Hi guys!
I'm very impressed with this step in knowledge. Real Mac heroes! I want to clarify the concept, "emulation". I read that to make possible all of this great job, first they had to emulate EFI to make possible the booting. My question:doing that, the machine runs at its normal speed or the whole stuff go in virtual mode. I'm not a geek, sorry my ignorance I just can read:)

Once you get in to windows it is full speed ahead. This machine is very fast, both in OS X and in Windows.
