Hi, I recently bought the 3ghz model of the Mac Pro. When i went to install windows, i followed all of what boot camp told me to do, I burned the drivers cd, made a 100gb partition on my startup disk for windows, and stated the installation using a legit copy of windows XP Home SP2. Yet when my computer restarts I get a white screen and nothing else happens. I have the latest firmware. Is there anything im missing? do i need to install something alongside boot camp to help the install? any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It might just be the screen you're using. I've heard of a lot of people having problems with certain graphics cards and displays on the Mac Pro.
Try a different monitor. If you can't do that, then post what graphics card and monitor you're using here, and hopefully someone who knows more about the Mac Pro should be able to help you.

That might work, but my graphics card(ATI x1900) only has DVI input's and i do not have a spare monitor/graphics card to play with.

Do you mean DVI outputs? Also, what monitor are you using? I've heard of specific problems with Apple's 23" cinema display. I don't know much about it, since I don't have the money for a desktop in addition to the laptop I need for school, but I think posting that info will make it at least a little more likely that someone can help. Good luck.

I have a 23" inch Apple HD Cinema Display.

I'm not sure about this but I think you want to install Windows XP Pro and not the Home edition.
As far as I know XP Home edition doesn't support quad processing.
Also have you tried Parallels?

see if you can find a DVI-VGA adaptor and use a different monitor for the install. Once you install, reconnect the 23" and you should be okay. I have a 30" and had no issue with Mac Pro, 3.0 GHz, ATI 1900XT. There is also a sourceforge utility called winacd (google it) which gives out control of the ACD features from Windows.

I'm having the same issue as everyone else with the Mac Pro with the ATI card and the 23" ACD, but I attempted to do something a little different, since I don't have an extra monitor.
First, I partitioned using Boot Camp.
Then, I installed Parallels, and setup a Parallels virtual hard disk that was the same size as my Boot Camp partition.
After that, I installed Windows in Parallels, but I made sure to also install the extra drivers that came with Boot Camp and WinACD.
I thought I would then be able to use the restore feature of Disk Utility to copy everything over to the boot camp partition, and hope it would work. Well, even though Parallels .hdd files are actually iso files, I couldn't seem to get Disk Utility to get past the "Scan images for restore..." stage. So, I manually formatted the boot camp partition using newfs_msdos and copied all of the files from parallels virtual hard drive to my boot camp partition.
Here's where I'm stuck: Even though my windows install shows up in my start up disk preference pane, it does not show up when I hold Option while booting. I think it has something to do with something in the boot record not being set correctly, but I'm a bit clueless as to how to fix it. I vaguely remember from my Linux/Windows dual-boot days that in order to get Windows to work correctly you have to set the partition as "active", but I don't know of any way to do that in OS X. Anyone have any ideas?

To activate the partition there is a windows utility called diskpart. I was able to get the windows partition visible when holding the options key at boot.
Diskpart example:
diskpart
>select disk 0
>select partition 3
>active
