I am trying to install Windows XP Pro SP2 within Parallels. I've created the VM for Windows XP and have a CD with Windows XP Pro SP2 on it. I am trying to "power on" the VM to get it to boot from the CD and proceed with the Windows XP installation.
However, when I press the "power on" button, the console output appears, with the Base Memory and Extended Memory totals, and then I get the following error:
CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD - Code: 5
I am not surprised by the uselessness of the error code. It is Windows, after all. But I am wondering what is wrong.
The only special thing about my Windows XP CD is that is the French version. The CD volume itself is called "X1APVOL_FR." But it most definitely includes SP2 -- although I understand this is not required in Parallels.
So, is it because it's a French version of Windows XP? Does Parallels require the English version to work?
Or is it something else? If so, what could it be?
Thanks in advance.
