Hi!
If anywone whishes to install a German Windows XP, the original patched
TXTSETUP.SIF does not work very well. I think I figured out the needed changes, with my TXTSETUP.SIF the installation runs smoothly. Just copy the file to \xp\patch\i386 before making starting to make the CD

Patrick
maybe an attachement would have been great? Or what should i do with such a remark?
Sorry, I thought I attached the file. I'll try again...
Ah I see, I only chose the file, but didn't upload it :)

Indeed... having that file would be greatly appreciated :)... Using the file from the 0.1 patch results in an installation without the devicemanager (besides other problems)...

Unfortunately, we don't seem to be granted access to that attachment :(

Hi,
Can you please tell us how to make a TXTSETUP.SIF in other language?
I want to make it for French install (or if somebody did it already...:p )?
How did you "translate it"?
Thanks

I had the luck that the files I needed were posted in the forum (needed a german MCE file :D ). So I didn't have to start from scratch to create my file.
But as far as I know, you basically just have to see what was added to the TXTSETUP.SIF in the Winxponmac_0.1 distro compared to a regular english XP version.
From what I see this should be everything which has to do with the files "iastor.sys" and "xom.inf". Easiest way to find out is to use WinMerge and compare the original english with the patched one. All those differences are needed in your swedish file as well...
Unfortunately I don't have an original english version - so hope this helps you anyways.....

I'll try to install japanese XP.
Someone already tried but could not install it.
I'd like to know the differences between your patched TXTSETUP.SIF and unpatched germany TXTSETUP.SIF.
Can you upload or describe the differences?

Correct. No big deal.
Just look where those lines are and paste them at the 'same' place of your original txtsetup.sif:
iastor.sys = 1,,,,,,_x,4,1
xom.inf = 1,,,,,,_x,,3,3
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C5&CC_0106 = "iastor"
iastor = iastor.sys,4
iastor = "Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M)"
AddReg = xom.inf,AddReg
That's it... The installation should work then.
By the way, another hint: When you have to reinstall windows, don't delete the partition from within windows setup. Use the apple tool! Otherwise, the loader will crash when you try to boot windows from the harddisc. I even hat to completely wipe the harddisc (os x as well) to get back to a bootable solution.

With 'my' txtsetup.sif (or if you modify one the way i specified) it should run without any errors.

I tried to install a hungarian copy of windows xp to my 20" iMac with the modified TXTSETUP.SIF file but I didn't have any success. I don't know what can be the problem, because I have the right .SIF file and the right partition order and i did the F4 F7 thing as well. The installer fails when it tries to patch the partition. When the installer says, that "Patching Succesful" then there is no feedback, but no for 2-3 minutes, there is no feedback forever:(
The only thing what could be in the installer's way is my videocard. My iMac is equipped with bigger x1600 card, I have the 256 MB version of the card in my computer. So, my question is: Did anyone managed to install a non-english (or english, but non-english would be better) window xp on an iMac 20" with "Ati X1600 with256 MB Video RAM" video card?
Here is a picture about the point where my install fails (http://kepfeltoltes.hu/view/060323/install_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg)
