I installed XP with Bootcamp the day before yesterday, installed the driver CD and then all the patches from the Microsoft. Everything seemed to be working just nicely. When I started the machine yesterday for the first time the computer would boot up, but after logging in the machine would do an immediate reboot and then end up in a black screen. Booting to OS X was still possible. So I did a reinstall of XP - doing only a quick format during the install. This time the driver CD install crashed at the first time (BSOD), but run successfully the second time. At the reboot I had the same problem again. So I installed XP for a third time - this time the full treatment again (repartioning the disk, regular format during the install of XP). After install of the driver CD I get the problem again, but the machine boots up fine after the removal of the coorded USB mouse. I was able to connect a wireless mighty mouse and install the patches from the MS website. Everything is working great.
Today I start up the machine and the problem has returned. I run the extended hardware test from the OS X install CD, but came up with no problems.

Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steffen

Is it every time or just about half the time? I had a PC laptop that did this about half the time I would boot up. As far as I could tell, is was a flaw between Windows XP and the hardware, thinking I was hitting the power button more than once.

This happens every single time. It doesn't not just happen when I start the machine for the first time, but also when I reboot from OS X. The welcome screen comes up, I click my user name, the desktops shows up and then the screen turns black. Suddenly I have the gray start screen and sound from the MBPro and the screen goes black again. I can't do any thing anymore and have to hold the power button for 5 sec. to turn the machine off.

I'm writing this right now running XP on the MBPro. What is different from yesterday? The bluetooth mouse is physically switched off. This is the first time that I'm using such a mouse. To get the mighty mouse to work you seem to have to start windows with the mouse switched off. Then you turn it on and reboot. Then Windows and the mouse run fine. If you start Windows for the first time with the mouse already powered on, it won't start. Are there any newer/better bluetooth drivers out there?
