I used the drivers from the wiki. Labeled win2k_xp14182.exe (http://tinyurl.com/gf2ym). Make sure you go back to the old xom.efi file dated at 4:39am.

Now install the driver file. It should install smoothly with no problems, and ask to restart the computer. Restart.

This is the flowerbox screensaver running cranked at full settings, which I dunno even if it works on the framebuffer. It's pretty smooth.

EDIT: As noted below, not tested on a DVI monitor, but only on a VGA monitor through the DVI adapter. (Unless someone wants to donate a 23 inch Apple LCD ;-) )

Why do you need the old XOM.efi file for it?

Why do you need the old XOM.efi file for it?

Because the newer one won't work. It locked up on driver install and bricks the system.

EDIT: On my mac mini, it messed up xp to the point where it didn't work anymore. The second OS X install, windows install, I got it all working and switched to the original xom.efi and the driver installed fine. Disclaimer: Only my experience, your mileage may vary.

I am really really happy this all works, and kudos to the guys for getting it all working for us.

I was running the newer xom.efi when I installed win2k_xp14182.exe. It finished the install and asked to be restarted. I restarted, chose to boot Windows, and then I get a corrupted static screen. You don't see the desktop and it's frozen. I held the power button to shutdown and when I rebooted again, I went on OSX and installed the older xom.efi, reblessed, rebooted. Chose to boot Windows but still the video corruption is present. I might have to start from scratch again.

Forgot to mention that I have the mini hooked up to a 20" Dell widescreen via DVI. Prior to installing win2k_xp14182.exe, the xom.efi made the Windows screen stretch nicely (screen filled proportionally) while the newer xom.efi was square (didn't fill screen) and flushed left.

unless i am mistaken, it currently does not support DVI. If you still have the 2005fpw's vga cable + the mac mini's dvi->vga piece, that should get it working.

also, go back and switch to the old xom.efi, because the newer one will shift your screen to the upper left.

*personally i hate how vga looks now that i've had dvi for so long, i really hope that they come up with a fix soon. =)

I went ahead and started from scratch. I'm going to try a different driver. I think it's the dell one. I want to keep my DVI. :)

i was following the steps detailed in the wiki.. and after the 2nd step (installing the dell drivers) ... it was working fine in dvi, the driver showed up in my device manager without an exclamation point...

can someone point to some testing tools so i can see if it's actually working.

the lag is gone when i move windows about, and wmp virtualizations have zero lag.

HOWEVER, when i start up warcraft 3, all i get is a black screen (with sound though).

any fixes? any thoughts?

I'm going to hold off on installing the video driver. I've been reading a lot of posts and kinda confused as to which one to follow. But I've reformatted my drive so much in 2 days that I'm kinda tired and want to relax a bit. hehe. I've loaded the other drivers and they work - wireless and ethernet. Sound driver doesn't work, not even through the headphone jack.
