Has anyone tried the Mobility Modder (http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/)? I think that to this day, ATI doesn't offer downloads for Mobility versions of their graphic cards (you get them directly from Dell, HP, etc.).
I think there's a readme included which describes the .inf file changes, but at any rate, they're not difficult to do, as I've done them manually before. You just need to change two lines to add a new model.
Can't remember the specifics, but if you diff the changed and unchanged .inf files, I bet the pattern is easily recognized.
The Wiki had the following to say on the matter, but I don't recognize the string format (as the same one used in the .inf, that is, but you do get the correct string from the device manager, if I remember correctly):
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 has a device ID of ati2mtag_M56, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71C5&SUBSYS_00921025 Maybe some driver .infs could be hacked to force them to install on this card? Just a thought.
