The wait is so long, but I may try it and see if it works if nobody else is able to. Just don't want to screw up my install.

As soon as I've got it downloaded, I'll post it here for everyone.:)

Yeah, it was painfully slow! I'm gonna upload it to rapidshare when I get it so people can download it without the need to wait for an hour.

Update (not my post):
Well I installed the xom.efi file to /system/library/coreservices an reblessed it. Rebooted and I could here XP startup, but could only see the grey windows flag bootloader screen.

BUT

Iam on a 20" iMac, so this may work for some one else.

Installing with a new XP CD altered with the patch, will get back with results.

I get an error at the first part of the setup. "Setup cannot set the required Windows XP configuration information. This indicates an internal Setup error."

Will try once more...

Machine: MBP 2.0, 2GB, 100GB 7200RPM

Do I just replace the original xom.efi with this one. or do I have to build a new XP cd? would this work on the Intel mini core duo.

Machine: Intel Mac Mini 1.66Ghz core duo, 2GB, 60GB HDD, Dell 24" LCD

You'll need to reburn a new CD. Then rebless the xom.efi (might not be necessary but I'd do it anyways).

The rest should be pretty standard. Report back if it works!

Did not work the second time. The same error message... Someone else tried it yet?

As far as I understand, the new patch for the windows cd includes most of the drivers needed for the mac's hardware so they will be installed upon the recognition of the hardware by the OS. These are the same drivers most of as have installed. So the new patch is mostly usefull for someone that is installing XP on his Mac for the first time and not for most of as here.

"2. ATI Mobility Drivers added.

Doesn't work on 20" iMacs (only tested by reblessing the file). XP boots but display isn't working."

Isn't the graphics card in the 20" a Radeon X1600, not a mobility? Wouldn't it need the regular catalyst drivers?

Maybe someone can switch the driver included in the patch...

I thought I read somewhere that it used the XT... but Apple makes no mention of the specific type in the specs, and in my system profiler it just says ATY,RadeonX1600

the imac has the X1600 mobility...

Apple's site doesn't say anything anywhere that would indicate that the video card is the x1600 mobility, rather than the regular x1600

XOM_XP_Patch_V2.zip (http://storeandserve.com/download/145953/XOM_XP_Patch_V2.zip.html)

This has The OMEGA Drivers on it now, and it has the XOMdd Driver ( next time i am going to replace it with the normal windows driver) I hope that there is better luck this time.

ONLY use This if you are willing to brick your Mac in the process of trying to get this to work. Thank you, and I am sorry for not putting that up Earlier

V3 Freezes at the Text,

2000:0F16 int 13_40

please not that this V3 doesn't use the XOMdd.sys file, it was replaced with vga.sys. But that isn't very bad considering... (from 1 person)

I heard that V2 Freezes at the grey screen (after install)...but I think that it can probley boot further..still need more testers (this was from 1 person)
