processor usage 90% on macbook 13 inches with windows xp professional with sp2

hi
i have installed windows xp professional with sp2 on macbook 13 inches intel core 2 duo. my laptop is running very slow and showing 80 to 90% processor usage all the time. any help to improve the performance. applications held or no response for quite a long time.

What software are you using to run windows on your Mac. If you're using bootcamp then have you installed the appropriate drivers from the drivers disk?
