hi there,

i noticed there are a couple of posts in other parts of this forum about running windows XP audio applications on MacBook Pro 15" through boot camp but wonder if they're up to date.

my tools are cubase/nuendo together with reason and ableton live, and several hundreds of vsts and vstis (part of wich dont even exist for MAC OS).

i used to drive a 3,06Ghz processor laptop with 1024 RAM that was reently deceased after 3 years of hardwork and lots of moving around. rest of the setup is a mottu ultralite, novation remote 25 and genelec 8020.

i'm having troubles to decide wether to buy the macbook pro or the new dell precision m65. problem is this last one will cost me 3300euros while the former is worth 2500 euros here.

don't take me wrong, i love macs and think they are the best constructed laptops ever, but really need a steady workstation that will be able to run something like cubase+reason working in rewire + loads and loads of vsts, vstis and samples on it. fast and without problems. i'm damn tired of wasting half of creative time solving hard/software problems, u know what i mean, right?

so, the dell precision m65 look damn well built and i can get it to run at 2,33Ghz, with up to 4G RAM (would only have money to get 2G now), 2 HHD - a 100G 7200 and a 80G 5400. it's a fine piece that will treat me good, i'm certain.

but if i can be sure that the macbook pro will do the job, i'd be delighted to save 1000euros and get my hands on one of those beauties.

anyone out there can help me on this one???
thanks a lot for your attention,
hugo ;)

You should have no problem running those programs what so ever. I've been running Ableton 6, Fruitloops 6, and Audition, Re-wire works just great. I also have not run into any conflicts using an M-Audio Firewire 410
