1st, congratulations on all of your fantastic work

As Im fairly new to all this stuff, I dont understand 2 bits of the HOW TO.

1.

"sudo cp xom.efi /System/Library/CoreServices <-- you will have to enter your password here
cd /System/Library/CoreServices
sudo bless --folder . --file xom.efi --setBoot <<--file -not a valid option??"

Do you actually type "<-- you will have to enter your password here" and "<<--file -not a valid option??" ?
If not, which password is it referring to?

2.

"The install prompts you for the format type to use: NTFS/FAT Quick/Slow"

Which one is the best to choose? Will they all work with windows equally well?
And how do you reboot after this step? Do you just hold down the power button?

I know what your all thinking - why is this guy trying to do something he knows nothing about?
The thing is, I think its extremely cool that windows and osx can be run on hte same machine and i also know that lots of people who know even less than i do are going to want to do this

If someone could update the HOW TO with those extra bits of info, i would be very thankful

thanks

"sudo cp xom.efi /System/Library/CoreServices <-- you will have to enter your password here
cd /System/Library/CoreServices
sudo bless --folder . --file xom.efi --setBoot <<--file -not a valid option??"

for this part all you type is:

sudo cp xom.efi /System/Library/CoreServices

cd /System/Library/CoreServices

sudo bless --folder . --file xom.efi --setBoot

and the password that it is asking for is the password that you set up on your OSX account... so if you didnt set one you can just hit enter, i think... you might have to set a password for the user that you are logged in as...

as far as the file system, it is usually recommended to do NTFS/SLOW even if you have a huge drive, it just makes sure that everything is done right... i haevnt gotten this far because im using a 20" imac and fudged everything up :) but i'll have it running sooner or later...

and trust me, i dont know THAT much about the mac, but i know enough to play and if i have a problem search google or anywhere for answers...

good luck!

Hi there, you know you say you fudged everything up, well, i had a problem on my 20" where i had installed xp and it was all working, but then i tried to install home but it wasent formatting the partition properly so it finished the blue screen installer but it wouldnt ever go any ferther, but also when i went back to trying pro it was doing the same.

but there is good news because i figured it out and its working again, and this might help you, what it did was i first did the blue screen part of the install without doing the F4, F7 change res thing , by doing a quick format and then restating the computer when it gets to the freezing 0%, then i did the install as normall by doing the F4 F7 thing, and then this worked for me, and i also hope it works for you, Good lick with sorting out your problem.

for aussie-boy, just found this on http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/FAQ

If it's going to work, it doesn't matter what format you choose -- FAT/FAST works fine for most users (and is the preferable option, since OSX can read it), even if it failed the first time.

hope this helps!!
