If Linux is really running, we can use VMware to virtualize Windows XP at near full speeds within Linux, right? Granted something like what XenSource is making, or dual booting is better.
Never the less this is very good progress.

It looks like the console is running only at this stage, so no VmWare :( Does anyone know if ATI's drivers support the chipset in the iMac?

Hi,
great news!
Now we need to see how to do this...
At least, my pretty mac will meet a pretty OS... (cause, i have to say it, the agua user interface is ugly -personnal opinion- and rosetta makes a 512 MB ram computer damned slow!)
EDIT: hmmm...
Seems that linux is not installed on this machine.
They did boot from a USB drive a "live" distribution (that is, in my opinion the gentoo live installation disk stage 1)
So next step will be to format the disk's partitions, install the linux and finally overwrite the EFI-bootloader (and that's a russian rullet game at this time)...
I hope someone will find a way out.

Well, that's a bummer! Still, this is good progress and I would not be surprised to see Linux Desktop running soon enough. Someone just needs to write some sort of display driver for linux.

It would probably be faster to run Windows software thru Crossover ( codeweavers.com ) than vmware...
Just a thought
