Good point Jaan :D . Let's not forget about the sound.

I'm also curious if someone could figure out what the hell the purpose of that red LED coming on is!!!

What speakers does Apple even use for MBP/iMac??

Everyone is talking video.

What about trying to reroute sound from optical (where it is now) to speakers?

Hmmm... that has not been successfully done. With the working driver on the system isn't it a matter of the "Output defaulting to the wrong place"

?

Its optics the digial output is defaulted on in the control panel for the sigmatel audio drivers... the setup doesn't finish properly otherwise the control panel probably would have installed as would have the tray icon, you can how ever find these in the install folder that the install was extracted to in program files under intel desktop board - audio - disk1 - folder labeled stacgui -thats at least how it is for the mac mini's im only assuming the mbp are running something simular if not the same audio...you can turn off the digital output how ever that still does not fix the sound as i stated it does not seem the setup finished or worked properly.

That is the optical output port...hooks up with the new sony-style sp/dif (?) connectors to your stereo.

5.1 audio surround on it.

Yeah it is bothersome, but I recall theres a way to disable it somewhere in Sigmatel preferences?

Yea once I got the sigmatel control panel up and running I was able to disable the optical output which was just always on before. This won't disable headphone output just the light. This would fix the battery drainage issue that macbooks suffer from also thanks to the light.

I'm still trying to figure out why my reply is now the first post on the thread!

Yeah the forum seems to rearrange posts as it pleases. My posts often move around all over the place. It creates quite a bit of clutter.

Well that comes from the optical digitaloutput that is included with the analog one... So in fact it's both a analog and a optical-digital jack

WTF??? This Forum confuses me totaly!!! @.@
