Here's an odd one. I updated Windows XP SP2 via the update panel (critical ones only) last night and all worked well. I then updated this morning as well when I got that yellow shield icon in the quicklaunch bar (lower right) and at the same time this morning tried to update DirectX to the latest version.
Now when I start up I get Windows throwing an int 13 error during boot followed by a hyphen (-) and the boot process stops. But if I type a "g" after the hyphen -g and hit return, it steps through one more step and throws the same error codes and - up again. Then you hit "g" to get -g and then return and the boot process continues normally starting Windows fine.
It appears as though something (a DLL or registry thing) got loaded for graphics but fails to load and can be skipped. Does that make sense?
Also, my boots into Windows after selecting the Windows XP icon on startup, have always been first into white text on black. Is that the case with everyone else too?
Regards, David
EDIT -- Sorry, I just noticed an exact sam eissue in this thread ... http://forum.onmac.net/showthread.php?t=87&page=2 ... apologies for the duplication. That screen is exactly mine too.
