Hi everybody,

this may be a stupid question but as I am NOT working with my Intel Mac Mini I just want to make sure:

is there a way that in case it does not work that the computer can get so corrupted that I can't go back to only have OS X on that machine?

I mean all that stuff concerning the efi: as far as I see it this is the basic boot thing and is stored in the first partition of the HDD (not like a BIOS that is on a chip), so it shouldn't be a problem at all, should it?

But as I said before, I just want to be 100% sure.

Thanks for any hints and answers in advance,

You can revert your Mac simply by repartitioning again... boot from your Mac's DVD and access Disk Utility and repartition. Then reinstall through the Mac OS X Installer.

If you find the Mac OS X Installer isn't recognising your partition(s) as bootable it means you've lost the GPT scheme. To restore this you may need to access the Terminal (from the Utilities menu of the Installer) and run the following command:

diskutil partitionDisk disk0 1 GPTFormat "Journaled HFS+" "Macintosh HD" 250G

The above command will create 1 partition for a 250GB HDD. Adjust accordingly to your HDD size.

Hello:

I've tried this technique on my MBPro and have had no success;

Here's the command I'm using:

diskutil partitionDisk disk0 1 GPTFormat "Journaled HFS+" "Macintosh HD" 111G

I keep getting the following error:

Partitioning encountered error Bad File Descriptor (9) on disk disk0

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

As I understand it, you need to erase all partitions first, then repartition, if you need more than one.

After I was quite sure there is no way of distroying the Mac Mini I started right away and I made it!

With the right xom.efi for the right device everything works smooth.

BTW: the Win Boot CD worked right from the start with only one building attempt and though I burned it to a CD-RW.

Thanx to all you here providing us (not that experienced) with help and support!
