Instead of just freezing up?
I have been "logging out" of Windows and then just hitting the power button...but it would be really great if there was a fix so Windows could actually restart/shut down the mac.

if you just hit Shut Down then it should work fine. I know mine does. It's when I hit restart that it won't turn off

I'm not a technician but I think shut down and restart works this way:
Shutdown: Well, just standard instruction to turn pc off, it works
Restart: I guess it's something related to bios, some sort of instruction to tell him "hey, don't turn computer off, just restart it". In this case there's not a real bios so windows freezes.
It may solved working on bootloader I guess.

You are correct....The end of a Restart is a BIOS thing...It's called the reboot vector. It's what CTL ALT DEL did in dos.

Maybe it's just not able to turn machine of, but I guess your data are safe.
(just remember bootloader was born for an iMac, so shut down procedure may differ a bit in Mac Mini).

I can only tell that after having worked with the spedific xom.efi for Mac Mini my Windows doesn't shutdown on its on.
This is not a big thing but would be nicer if solved someday ;)

as long as we'll have source code in hands, I'm sure it would be easy to fix it. :]

I think it must differ for everybody. Kind of the same way the video drivers on mac mini can be installed different ways it seems. I have a mac mini core solo running XP and it both shuts down AND restarts normally. I didn't do anything special. It was always like that from day 1. I am using the original xom.efi for my mini.

I have a MacBook Pro 1.83. The "Turn Off Computer" option works fine, but "Restart" does not.

Yet oddly, this does not work on my MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz. I freeze on shutdown, and it seems to be independent of using the Welcome screen.

Shutdown works okay on my MBP 2.0GHz. Restart hangs and I have to hold down the power button to shut it off. I may not be remembering correctly, but I thought it hung in both cases until I installed the Intel chipset driver.

Possible fix for shutdown not powering off here (http://forum.onmac.net/showthread.php?p=4253#post4253) (as well as some notes of the Mini being able to restart, but not other models).
