I'm no expert at solutions, but just an observation from a hopeful and eager dual-platform user: Shouldn't the fact that Dell now sells a Core Duo on their new laptop suggest that XP on the Apple is possible? You would think there is not all that much difference between the Dell chip and the Apple chip. Is it more than the processor alone?

If it's the processor alone, then Dell Core Duo and Apple Core Duo are differently manufactured. If it is the same chip, then it is either possible to boot OSX on any Core Duo Machine or there are other requirements beyond the processor that are absent from machines other then Apple's.

The problem is not with the Core Duo processor. The problem lies with the layout of the logic board and how the different chips are meant to coincide with each other. This is the main reason for BIOS and now EFI on the logic board. They have figured out how to boot linux but without 2D/3D graphic acceleration, minimal sound support (if any) and lots more missing.

Yes, over time, these will be figured out. Now, if the Dell logic board is the same as the Apple one, then you might be on to something.
