Hello all,
I have written a simple EFI-based boot menu for Intel Macs. It is called rEFIt and is available at refit.sourceforge.net (http://refit.sourceforge.net/). The distribution also contains a copy of the EFI shell and some tools. It is already in use on the Ubuntu Linux Live CD produced by the mactel-linux (http://www.mactel-linux.org/) project.
If you take part in the contest and still lack a solution to rule #3, feel free to use rEFIt for your purposes. I'd also like to offer rEFIt as a platform and umbrella project for any EFI-space components (CSMs, drivers, loaders) developed as part of the contest.
