The only disc I still own is one that's SP1. I'm in no real rush to go out and purchase a newer version, so my question lies with the expected.

Is it possible to install XP with an XP1 disc?
Are there any simple changes that I can make in the XOM or bootloading stuffs within nero or the files that are overwritten in nero?

Thanks in advance and good work everyone!

You can download the SP2 upgrade and create your own SP2 Install CD with that.

No you can't. You need a Retail SP2 Disk, Belive I tried.

Actually, you can -- assuming that the CD you have is an original Microsoft disk, and doesn't contain add-ins from the likes of Dell/Compaq/Gateway/etc. The instructions can be found in a number of places on the net, including bink.nu (http://old.bink.nu/xpbootcd/) (geared towards Roxio Easy CD Creator) and helpwithwindows.com (http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html) (geared towards Nero). I've personally used the instructions from bink.nu to successfully slipstream W2K up to SP4 and XP up to SP2, back when I was still in tech support, but the instructions from helpwithwindows.com look like they might be a bit easier to read.

Oh yeah... and if you're at all worried about messing up and wasting a CD, consider burning an ISO first, and trying to boot from it within Virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/downloads/sp1.mspx). (The version which runs DOS/Windows/Linux on top of Windows is free now, BTW.) Once you've determined that your ISO is fully functional, you can burn with confidence!
