I've been using a Thinkpad T40 (1.6 Pentium M) for about three years and it's starting to have fan problems from time to time. So time to get a replacement...

I use it primarily at the office -- it only goes on the road when I travel, so I don't use the built-in LCD display - at the office I use an external 21" DVI Samsung monitor running 1600x1200. I can turn on the built in LCD too and have the thing operate in dual monitor mode which is useful for software testing (I'm a Windows developer).

So the question:

Can I do this with a MacBook Pro running XP with Boot Camp?

Thanks in advance,
Rod

Yes, Windows under the Boot Camp method and with the Apple drivers installed supports dual monitors (both extended desktop and mirroring) on MacBook Pro.

How did you get it to work? I might just be PC disabled, but when I go to the wacky ATI display panel, it recognizes my external monitor by name, but never seems to output any video. I can even drag windows off into never-never land, so I know the desktop has been expanded for the external. I have confirmed that the external does work with OS X.
