Macbook pro 2.0 stock
Boot Camp boots up SuSE 10.1 just fine. ACPI stuff and Ethernet card detected properly. I'm doing a network install right now.
I think Boot Camp must give us a bog-standard intel reference BIOS emulation module.
Very exciting stuff. Can't wait to see if the upcoming fglrx drivers with x1600 support work....

Cool. I've been a linux user for years (right now I have 4 linux boxes running here), and use a mac for my graphic art software (when a client or company says "Use only this or that" you gotta use it). I'm looking to buy a Mactel in the next year, so going with a multiboot system that lets me use OSX and Linux on the same box (lets face it, currently, atleast on PowerPC machines, X11 under OSX sucks). Yeah there are other methods to dual boot, but one that Apple has the stamp of approval on would be a nice bonus.

I'm working on the correct install procedure. So far, I've determined that you cannot allow a linux parition program to work upon the OS X GPT partition record. It corrupts it, and it cannot be repaired using OS X's utilities. This is even for Linux partition software that is GUID (GPT/EFI) aware (parted, YaST2).
Linux partition software is too "smart", as are the linux bootloaders. They see the GPT/EFI stuff, but are not able to interoperate with it correctly. I suspect NTLDR just bases its information of the rudimentary BIOS MBR emulation.
I'm getting close, though. I can boot into a linux GUI, but getting a linux boot loader that is "dumb" enough to install on the ext3 or reiserfs partition without groking the EFI BIOS correctly is trying.
I'm going to play with EXTLINUX, and SYSLINUX on a FAT32 partition if this doesn't work.
It's super, duper close, though. I expect to have more information today. I've managed to get a full working system (sans ATI X1600), but booting it the last step. I'm trying a new install procedure as we speak.
ONCE AGAIN BE WARNED THAT IF YOU USE YAST2, LINUX FDISK, PARTED, OR ANY OTHER LINUX EFI/GPT/GUID PARTITIONING SOFTWARE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BOOT INTO OS X, AND WILL MOST LIKELY HOPELESSLY CORRUPT YOUR MBR, BOTH LEGACY AND GPT.
