hi there.
im considering getting a 20" imac, and i might
put xp on it for the sake of games.
does bootcamp cover ALL drivers?
video drivers so it can unleash its full inner beast on
my windows games?
fan drivers so it doesnt cook?
and isight, speakers etc (doesnt really matter to me though.)?
thanks for any info

It covered all my devices on my mac mini with the exception of the IR port.

thanks for the reply.
SWEET.
so theres imac with great display and preformance,
the ability to run any app, AND have the wonderful mac os x,
then theres pcs with lame-o displays, being able only to run xp apps,
and running ONLY the worst OS around!
pretty tough decision to me. :D
thanks

As Apple states in the documents concerning Boot Camp, it does not support:
- Remote
- iSight
- Keyboard backlight (MacBook Pro's)
- Apple USB modem

While it doesn't state this, it does NOT supply custom keyboard/mouse drivers. Which means:
- no extended key support Fn-XXX (only eject works through a custom app Apple wrote).
- no tap or other advanced functionality for the trackpad.
Basically for keyboard/mouse its relying on the default usb HID drivers present in windows which have no idea of the non standard functions on the devices.

I was playing Civ 4 on my 20" iMac last night with no issues, you'll be very happy if you decide to get one.

Don't (and I really mean don't) ever click *Start Video Chat* in Msn messenger. It gives you a crazy bluescreen with code and then it restarts. I don't think that driver issue is fixed.

I have a USB Logitech Webcam installed on my BootCamp set-up and I removed the iSight from device manager and am now happily webcamming :)

For the keyboard driver they're using a custom filter.sys. For an idea of what this is, check out "how to disable the keyboard sleep button with a filter driver" (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302092). that'll give you a good idea where to start out. With a bit more work i'm sure they'll be able to implement the Fn Key functionality, as well as hopefully "Fn-click" turning into a right click.
