I've been playing with Parallels for Windows on my Windows box, and it seems to have a lot in common with VMWare... Is any of VMWare open source, or did they just copy the interface really really closely? Even the uninstall process is almost exactly VMWare...
Anyways, if I have time this weekend I'll play with it on my mini --

They probably licensed the technology from an older version of VMware. (which is not open source at all)

Given that VMWare is coming to the Mac at some point (they have it working in their labs, according to their spokesperson), I doubt they'd help out a competitor.
